they are the same exact motor as the 4.8 and the 5.3, just a different casting on the block, and a different bore and crank. If you got a Vmax or a esky motor they pistons are flat top as well

I've had both. Both great motors. 6.0 has a good bit more torque and a good bit less fuel efficient.

? makes duramax thread asks about 6l  6l is a good engine just as reliable as any other vortec just a tad worse on fuel

Boosted 6.0 then you be like

For what? Gas mileage? Power?

The old saying "There's no replacement for displacement" is usually correct. If you're looking to make big power, a 6.0 based block is a good place to start. If you want just a mild DD, 5.3 will be just fine. Plenty of power to be had from them also.

depends on how much and what way you want power,

supercharge a 4.8 and it will have more power than a stock 6.0

it all depends. stock for stock the 5.3 isnt a bad motor, the 6.0 just has some more torque. that being said, a 6.0 on a 4l60E and your trans will be on barrowed time

the stock 1500 trans is weak for the 4.8 and 5.3 motors, most people put shift kits, servos and extra coolers on them to make them last. with the 6.0 in front with the torque, it will go boom as soon as you decide to get very agressive with the gas pedal

The 1500hd with 6.0 is what I'm talking about .. So either way 5.3 or 6.0 I should get a shift kit ?

With proper maintenance in stock form they should both hold... up unless you drive like a pissed off teenager if I am correct a 1500hd with a 6l should have 4l80e and in stock form will be perfectly fine at stock power
