Opinion wanted for new truck

With this new job I just picked up Ill be making quite a bit of money. I am wanting a new truck.
I want either a 2003+ silvy 1500 or a 00+ Silverado 2500 diesel. Either way will be 4x4 crew cab short box. What are you opinions on what I should get?

Regardless what job you have right now, the price of diesel is insane. You could prolly catch a good deal on one but will make up for it in fuel. Right now I would stick with a gas burner. This is just my .02

If you have no REAL need for diesel, and are just starting off (read: Y O U N G) I would play it safe, save the money, and buy gas.

Other than that, once again, as it is most of the time, personal opinion and taste plays the major role here!

Me and my boss had this convo the other day. His advice; if you don't haul something large a few times a week, a diesel is a waste of money. He just had to pay $2500 for new injectors.

I agree, if you don't haul/tow much, I'd hold off on the diesel. If you do occasionally, you could still get a 2500 gas burner. Even though the fuel mileage won't be great, overall cost of ownership will be cheaper than a diesel.

Or there's always the in between, 1500HD. I was looking at them before I bought my truck, wish I coulda found a low mileage one. Lighter frame, so not as much payload/towing capacity, but still has the 2500 brakes, axles, diffs, 6.0/80e, and you can have the CC with the 6ft bed instead of the retarded 5.5ft bed on a 1500 CC

Dude I know just dropped like 3k on injectors for his lb7 with like 230k on it, you could be buying someone elses problem too, it's also going to cost you more to take care of this newer truck too(diesel), just something to think about. I'd look for a newer NBS with less rust.

I had a 01 1500hd, ccsb w/ 6.0-80e it was a pretty good truck, actually my friend still has it with well over 300k on it now. if you can find a good deal on the diesel pass on it, someone knows something they are not telling you. Good diesel trucks are not cheap, and the cost to maintain to keep it a good truck will far out weigh what you will spend on gas.

like stated above if you want a diesel and don't need 1, don;t buy 1.
