I'm interested that this little engine makes such good power.

I was contemplating a 243 head swap a while back for my 5.3, because those heads and intake are what the nnbs engine come with factory. Would be interesting to see the gain with just the 243 head swap and nnbs intake over a stock older 5.3/4.8?
Well the 99-06 5.3 is rated at 285hp at the crank and the nnbs 5.3 is rated at 315hp so +30hp from heads and intake on a stock motor, obviously quite a bit more once you Factor in the cam and bump in compression from the milled heads.

Idk. The place I went to (Wall2Wall Performance Engines) doesn't seem to have a constant rate for head milling. Maybe they do, but Idk. They charged me $50, my brother $75, and my cousin $60 and we all had our heads milled .040.

Should never be over a 100 for a mill job
It's just stock 243s,they are not ported or anything.
