CGM Official 'Engine Bay' Thread

Here's my beater. still buttoning up a few things but should be completed in a few weeks.

Been meaning to relocate my coils to clean up under the hood. Probably do it at the same time that I do plugs/wires.

Sheeeit... I need to do something with my engine bay.

I'll probably do plugs, wires, and maybe new coils this summer, but I'm tossing the idea around of doing a coil relocate... anybody dabble with the available coil relocation kits out there? Wouldn't mind relocating them to the firewall.

I did, but I just made new mounts to relocate them above the valve cover, instead of on the firewall. I also untaped my wire loom and redid it a little to reroute around the valve cover instead of over it and the intake like stock

if your not turbo'd, you could mount them on the bottom of the block. between the block and manifolds. there is plenty of room there. makes it easy to run your plug wires straight down.

Here's what I did, just made the mount from 1/8 aluminum angle iron and welded on some tabs. Used msd plug wires from katech, actually had them premade in the right length for their valve cover mounts and about $30 cheaper than buying direct from msd.

i would fear heat wearing out the coils faster. because it is much hotter in that area

I don't think heat is really an issue, because its not much hotter on the side of the engine block than on the valve covers.
