I'm really wanting a nice impact, trying to decide on air or electric. Also, a leaf blower. Can't think of anything else right now. But give me other ideas.

What is a must in your garage?

I bout a IR from Lowes it's quiet technology and I love the shit out of it. I have the new Mikita lithium. Love it. If you but electric get lithium. I also use to be a diesel mechanic until economy went to shits but the IR quiet technology is so nice being quiet

I would get an air impact if you have a good compressor..my dad has a dewalt electric impact and it works pretty good but doesn't seem very strong..supposed to be 300 ft lbs but seems like I can always get the lug nuts a little tighter and sometimes I have to break them loose before I spin them off with it
 
My dad's 18v dewalt impact is awesome as long as you have a fresh battery, never found lugnut it couldn't take off so far. Also I'd look at stihl for blowers.

Cheeny and I used an electric dewalt at work and it was actually pretty nice. It broke loose anything we tried it on from what I can remember. Most of the stuff we used it on were 3/4" + bolts that hadn't been touched in probably 15+ years.

Maybe his just needs some new batteries..its a couple of years old now

If you have a good air compressor pneumatic is the way to go. Otherwise my snap on 18v impact was the only cordless electric that ever did really good.

snap on is more than I can justify with how little I will use it.

I have a decent compressor

i have the same debacle. i wanna get my dad something to help his shoulder out in whatever he does tools wise but he pretty much has all the snap-on tools he needs.


compressor wise we picked up a sears 50/60 gallon and it works pretty damn good. only thing it struggles at to keep up with is with a cutoff wheel.

Just go air then. Only reason I have the electric is because I go to the salvage yards a lot.

My advice would be to stay away from electric impact. I had 4 lug nuts sling off going 60 mph after i put them on with a freshly charged dewalt impact. Fts.
 
Ingersoll Rand, the cheapest one. Its a tank, its heavy and loud; but it will break on you zero times. I paid like $125 for mine. If i were going with electric again I would get a Milwaukee.
 
My Snap On 18v is the only cordless impact I've been very happy using, I would go all day on one battery doing 5-6 tire rotations, for an air impact again I love my Snap On but my buddy has an IR that is pretty nice
