I told Swampfox I would do this for him - so here you go for your reference.
Here are the tools you will need -
15mm Socket on Ratchet or 15mm Ratchet wrench
and of course super secret Stage 2 Lithium grease with Molybdenum nano particles
Step 1
Remove bolt holding the shafts together.
Step 2 - Slide 2 shafts apart *IMPORTANT - DO NOT SPIN THE UPPER PART AROUND IN CIRCLES! You could actually lock your steering wheel in place when you do this if you chose to. Theres a little hole on the bottom side of the column cover. Supposedly, GM has a tool that goes in there to lock the wheel in place. I dont know, just dont whip your wheel around in circles and everything will be fine.
Step 3 - Pull upper part slowly out of boot. It will catch at its end. There will be some plastic exposed. Slather your lube on this plastic part. Now push the shaft up into the boot and pull it back out nice and slowly. You'll want to get as much lube on the shaft as possible. A dry shaft makes noise. You'll see the lube disappearing. I do this process 2 times. Lots of in and out action.
Finally, reassemble. Its that easy.
