SlickSierra v2.0

Nothing really exciting. Got a new dent free hood local off a Yukon Denali, replaced some interior switches that had the lights burnt out and slowly been trying to clean the dirt out of all the cracks and crevices.

I did buy some Jeep led fog lights off amazon. Apparently they bolt right in on the stock bracket. May venture out here tonight and try to get some hardware

Haven’t don’t it yet but yes the ones from TRS I bought knock offs from amazon and was not to impressed with the brightness that’s why I haven done it yet but then again I’m coming from crazy bright 9005 LEDs in the fogs that just glare everywhere lol

Little spring update:

Found an Escalade handle kit the other day on eBay and scooped it up immediately. So lucky as these kits are discontinued and super hard to find

Installed them yesterday along with chrome interior door handles and new door speakers: Rockford Fosgate Prime 6.5” Components up front and Polk DB 6.5” coaxial’s in the rear doors. These 03-06 door panels are a lot more involved to pull than the 99-02 W/T Panels lol. Well on the front doors I pull the panels to find shitty Walmart Sony’s, self tappers and wire nuts.

The rear doors went a lot better I was able to attach the speakers to the factory brackets using the factory hardware which is always preferred.

Gonna be on the hunt for Bose a pillars next so I can clean up the tweeter install. But my first experience with components is amazing. The sound is next level.

The handles looks great except for the passenger side front which seems to be a shade off. More like and egg shell white than a pure white like the rest of the truck.

Also got a legit Corsa tip. Didn’t like how much the factory hangers allowed the pipe to droop so used a little universal strapping to tighten that up.

Finally as you can see also got the windows tinted. I went with Suntek Carbon 18% on the front doors, and a layer of the back glass only. Nothing on the rear doors. The darkness level is a perfect match just a slight difference in the color tone but you can hardly tell. Anyways, onto the rest of the pics.

Mini update: Installed quite a few things since the last update, big ticket items would be the Grant wheel, red LED controls and a white SS cluster with red LED’s and Esky bezel. Also installed a NBS Esky shifter and a Elite Engineering Clean Side separator for PCV system. I run that in conjunction with the JLT can for the dirty side. You can see the install and routing in the pics below. The Clean Side separator replaces the oil fill cap and has mesh filter to catch any oils/vapors before going to the throttle body. With this piece you cap the factory passenger side valve cover vent.

Besides a winter prep with Shine Supply products and some maintenance with Amsoil from Eddie, fresh NGK plugs and the sweet looking green HD serpentine belts, the only other “mod” would be a corvette servo with a Sonnax billet 4th cover I had installed by a shop at last inspection date. Shifts firmer at all RPM’s WOT it chirps the serpentine belts so looking into doing a Katech HD tensioner.

Also on pump 93 in the upper RPM ranges it still has some detonation so I had been running 6 gallons of Sunoco 260GT, it’s 100 octane and I can get it right out of the pump locally. That with 20 gallons of pump 93 that puts the mixture at about 95 octane with no detonation to be found, stays in the high timing table and pulls hard. Not the best solution though since I can only get it in one place and travel back to NJ once a month and it’s also 8 bucks a gallon lol.

I’ve also been experimenting with Boostane recently to get the octane right at 95 which it seems to run the best. But I haven’t had it wide open on the Boostane yet.

Really the long term solution is to have a tune done. It’s possible but highly unlikely the truck may have previously been tuned and may need some timing adjustments in the upper RPM’s under load to be happy with pump 93.

Looking at doing Boost Autoparts K2xx mirrors with color matched caps and some sort of hard folding or retractable bed cover. Trying to find one that sits flush and isn’t a grand has proven to be difficult.

Also did the envoy airbag. Gaps with the grant wheel aren’t great but neither we’re the stock ones.

Also picked up a painted dash bezel and HD hood from Bryan aka Ginger. Hood needs some body work and color change and the bezel needs touched up but not big deal either way.

Custom ZR1 style badge I had made up. Not sure where I wanna put it. Replace GMC on tailgate? Mesh grille badge? Dash badge over airbag switch? Under the hood?

needs full debadge except for the vmax on. sticker goes in the bottom corner of the back window.

It’s a badge so not sure where to go with it maybe could go on the window I’ll have to play around with it tempted to get a mesh grille like my rclb had
