Your vehicles as they sit now!

You know how many times I've seen this exact post here? LMAO.

Eventually said poster gets fed up with constant repair and dumps the vehicle. Then for some sick and twisted reason repeats within calendar year. Lol.

It comes to a point with older/high mileage vehicles where it isnt about the dollars anymore. There becomes a blurred line between money and irritability and frustration of repairs much more frequently.

I said something similar. Put a modded reman engine in the burb a few years ago and planned to keep it for as long as possible. Fast forward to this year and finally rebuilt the front end and differential along with some other shit. Then in September or October the engine spun a rod bearing. As much as I wanted to throw another engine in it, it really wasn’t worth it no matter what attachment I had for it. 275k miles and it needed some more rust repair and prolly a new frame in the next few years so I sold it to a guy who was just gonna throw an engine in it and drive it. But up until it blew up, it never left me stranded and ran great

I’ve been on the hunt for a mint nbs burb but they’re hard to find and I’m honestly wanting a newer 3/4 ton diesel

Wait, it's not normal to drive a vehicle way past it's service life and let it nickel and dime you to death?

Tbh, if you do it like big rig guys do and just say at X miles i'm going to overhaul everything it's probably much more enjoyable and still cheap to own. Replace a lot of things at once before they break.

Dusty as usual, weldless and waiting for spring. May pull the lift next month if I get a free weekend.

I absolutely love my NBS diesel. It’s higher miles and does need a chunk of money put in her, but once that’s done she should be good for another 220k miles. And I’ll be in it WAYYYYYY cheaper than a newer truck

If you find an reasonable older diesel and do some preventive upgrades first instead of "bro'ing" it out, they'll last forever. A built front end here, a lil pcv reroute there, good tunes and not driving like a complete nephson will go a long ways. Now buying a 267k lbz that was owned by a kid is a different story, money pit and yo own damn fault.

Granted there are some things you can't foresee but I still think diesel is better for the long run. Damn sure get your monies back compared to gasser. My high country resale value is fucking shit.

Some shit has nothing to do with mileage though, or cant really be foreseen. Many parts including body, paint, Wiring and electronics, seals and rubber parts etc on a 15-20 year old truck are that age regardless if it has 60k or 260k.
Example, my 6.0 is probably the best built 6.0 you can buy. It's a west coast truck that I bought from an old man at 60k miles, it just rolled 100k last month. I've spent shit loads of money on it, but I'll probably let it go sooner than later because I do not want to start dealing with wiring harness failures and things of the like. At the end of the day it is still a 2006 truck and age deteriorates things.

Diesel resale does help opposed to gas trucks. But I dont see myself ever getting $68k back for my Cummins lol.
$35-40k, sure for a long time. But what is that percentage relative to loss on a gas truck these days. So does it matter if you lose $30-35k on a gas or diesel? Lol. Sure you get more back at the end, but you pay more up front.
Kind of like people who like getting a huge tax return lol.

Buy an nbs diesel with a blown headgasket and build it lol. Whip something dumb till it's done. Or do cencal burb

I do have a dd so I do have something else to drive. I have no issue doing a cencal burb but I know I’d never get my money out of it and finding a clean slate to start with is impossible.

I’d love a 03-07 Sierra but refer back to hard finding one that is clean and not 30k

6.0 would be fun but I hate the interiors

6.7 would be ideal imo. Reliable enough and won’t nickel and dime me to death and it’s a proven drivetrain. Just hard to find a truck with the options I want and can’t decide between blue, gray or silver

Deez AMP AT's? how's road noise compared to a Terra Grappler

They are the terrain attack a/t. I don’t have a lot of drive time on them but they are definitely louder than the terra grapplers. I only had them on my Sierra for about a week because they rubbed liked crazy. (33x12.50x20 + 1.5” spacers). They definitely run big compared to some of the other 33” tires I’ve had.
