Dean's '11 Crew Cab Budget Build

Hopefully they will come back off in the spring. Maybe I should have gotten amps instead of coilovers.....

Unfortunately there’s a change of plans on the 6112 for the front. I got them in a little over two weeks ago, but when attempting to assemble the first one with hand tools, the stud snapped. Wasn’t sure how it happened, but passed it off as a fluke. I figured it was either a bad part or I somehow managed to over torque it. I contacted summit and they had no issues getting them swapped out. Ended up getting the new ones the following week and took them to a shop to get assembled yesterday. The stud snapped on them as well when torquing the first one to spec.

Even though I was extremely pumped about the 6112, with 2 separate sets having the same issue, I decided to wash my hands of them and move on to something else. I got back with Summit and was able to exchange the second defective set for some Fox 2.0 and me just eating the $200 price difference. They are set to ship out on Monday, so I’ll probably have them Tuesday or Wednesday.

Got the Fox 2.0 in last night, hoping to install them sometime this week or over the weekend.

Decided to go on and knock out what I could last night and ended up getting just about everything done. Took about 2.5 hours, but managed to get both new CV’s in along with the Fox 2.0s. Only thing I didn’t get around to was trimming up the fenders some more. I didn’t grab any truly usable before measurements since I was in my sloped driveway, but got after measurements today. It’s sitting around 38.5” up front, so a half inch lower than the rear. They still need to settle, but it seems like they are sitting pretty close to where the bilsteins were since it doesn’t rub any more than what it used to. I still need to get the sway bar links back in, but I can already feel an improvement from the quick test drive last night and the drive to work this morning. I’m definitely happy with them.

I thought I had posted an update but I guess not, The Fox 2.0 are a definite improvement over the 5100. They seem to handle the smaller stuff slightly better than the 5100, but they really shine on the bigger stuff like bridge transitions. Before, the front was definitely harsher than the rear, now the front is softer. The whole setup rides great loaded too. I had to pick up a double dresser and crib at the beginning of the week and it rode extremely smooth.
