Hi everyone,

Hoping to find help here with a problem I've got. First of all, I drive 2002 S-10 pickup, 2.2 L. recently I noticed that randomly 'check engine' light started to turn on an off. Right after a day or 2, I noticed misfiring. I thought that the problem was about a bad spark plug, so I took out all four of them and all seemed to be fine (at least visually). To be on the safe side, I replaced all 4, but it did not help. Meaning, nothing changed with the new plugs in. Then appeared problems with starting. Knowing that the starter is fine, and the plugs are new, I cannot realize what may be the reason for this all? I assume, that it is something serious....

Did anyone had something similar to what I experience?
Thanks for help in advance

I went to the shop to check on the error codes there. I felt like something was wrong about ignition, as Graystone said. But the tech guy said that the crank sensor went bad, and hence cannot properly identify the ignition phases, hence misfiring. Apparently, there is only one way out - to replace the sensor. I guess now I need to get the sensor somewhere, as dealership gave me the number for the piece, but they haven't got it avail...

That is fairly common on those motors. If there is a cel it makes no sense replacing parts without checking the codes first
