Ok I'm 4 hours away right now so I can't help him. Truck's been doing this off and on randomly for about a month now. It'll act like it's stuck halfway in 4x4 and make a terrible clicking noise and won't hardly move, then seems to unbind and be fine. Tonight he said it really won't move anymore and him and his dad think it's the Tcase.
I have 2 theories on this. 1) the actuator is sticking partway engaged in 4x4 causing a bind. 2) the chain is stretched bad or finally broke. Or 3 it's toast lol.
Anybody have any input? He only has this one truck and uses it to tow alot so he needs to get it on the road asap. If it's the actuator, is there a way to manually put it in 2wd until he can ge the new one? He's trying to get it fixed at least temp tonight...
