Where did you get the chrome covers? I got mine off of eBay, and they go over the factory cover. Kinda stick off a little.
I'm wanting to go back to shiny chrome and ditch this brushed look.

These are oem. Got an extra set of mirrors off my dad's 02 when he put tow mirrors on his. They aren't perfect but they look pretty damn good for being 14 years old lol.

So as some of you know, I bought a 96 s10 as a daily. Well yesterday when I came out of work to leave, I started the truck up and it backfired and didn't start. Started it again and the oil pressure is reading a little high and when I push in the clutch to come to a stop the rpms start climbing and it takes 5-7 seconds after I'm stopped for it to drop back to idle. Anybody have any idea what it may be? It's a 2.2 5spd. I've done some research on s10forum and there were some similar issues but it seems like people were just throwing shit at it hoping to fix the problem.

No idea about the oil pressure but with it idling high I'd clean the throttle body, particularly around the IAC motor
Yea that's the plan right now. I hope it's something simple like that. Not really wanting to put much money in this truck at this time.

So im having more problems with the daily... whoever I got the truck from had the ignition wired to a button under the dash. I'm assuming it was done that way because the ignition went out and they didn't wanna replace it.

Well for the few months I've had the truck, it has gotten harder and harder to start. I would have to turn the key on and push the button 15-20 times to get it to crank. Yesterday I was driving it and I stopped at a red box to rent a movie and when I got in to leave it made a grinding sounds for a split second and died. Wouldn't start back, so I popped the hood, checked the oil and coolant and everything looked good. Tried to start it again and it sounded like the starter was spinning but not engaging. Put a new starter on it today and it spins on the first try now but it's still not engaging.

Any ideas? Does it sound like a shim issue? I had to work tonight so I just quit for the day and I'll try to mess with it tomorrow before work or this weekend.

It's not engaging at all? If it's turning the motor over but making horrible noises, you could have either the wrong flywheel or starter, tooth count wise.

The starter is spinning but not engaging the flywheel. It's not making any bad noises though. It almost sounds like an electric toothbrush. I'm not sure if it's going past the flywheel or not going far enough or what.

If you don't even hear a clunk like the head is hitting the flywheel, you could have a bad starter. I went through 4 on my k5 before I got a good one

Check the flywheel teeth. We were going through flywheels like butter at work in forklifts and skytraks. Operators weren't returning the ignition back all the way and the starter would stay engaged enough to grind the teeth down.

After further investigation, it looks like it wasn't a starter after all. The timing chain is broken. So I guess I'm either gonna tear it down and replace it this weekend or take it somewhere Monday

Damn Dakota, stop breaking your shit! lol
It's good you figured out the problem. Did you get it fixed?
I know dude! My luck has been really shitty here lately. It's not fixed yet. Hopefully I can get it fixed this week.
