GM Hood Hood swap

Hey guys,

I am looking to put an HD hood on my GMC 1500. I love the look, and have found a hood to match my paint. My question is, are Chevy hoods interchangeable with GMC hoods? I understand they are both GM, and generally speaking, with the same year and model, they should be interchangeable right? A 2002 silverado hood should fit a 2002 sierra correct?

I've found a 2002 silverado HD hood to put on my 05 Sierra (not HD), and am really hoping I dont purchase the hood from the salvage yard, just to find that they don't fit the same.

Any thoughts, opinions, or input would be greatly appreciated.

will bolt up, wont close....even the same year chevy hood vs gmc will need modding to follow the contour of the headlights

You HAVE to modify a chevy hood to make it work on a GMC. All gmc heavy duty trucks got the light duty hood 99-07c

thanks for the info tho, very helpful. Looks like all that needs done is a little bit of trimming and welding. We'll see if I actually make it happen, but thats the goal.
