Khaos' RCSB Thread

New brakes are on. Found out while I was doing them and new abs wires that my one front wheel bearing was pretty chewed up, so did both at the same time along with everything else.

New hard lines, 05+ fronts with calipers, tahoe 2 piston rears, new hard lines, stainless steel lines, abs sensors, and bearings. Glad that's all out of the way. Gave it a quick wash too.

some rear bumper plastics, even if they are black and it will be fairly clean until the repaint.

I want to drive it with that shifter setup.

Actually just ordered some lol. Gonna put those on with the new bumper.

Same thing I just did on the Burb except I did the Z36 “towing” pads and stainless lines because my rubbers were cracking. Mine are way better too, wife even commented the other day how much better they feel.
 
Is it the pads/rotors or do y'all really think you need the calipers as well? I can't find a lick of performance data for $100-3000 brake kits. Woof.


Truck is jamazing, I'll take a 4x4 automatic version plez

I did everything because I got it all on Black Friday for 20% off. And red calipers adds HP.

Edit: I would say it's mostly the pads/rotors. Scoop it all if you get a deal.

Thanks! I'd like a 4x4 twin too. Almost bought one, but decided to be an adult and pay off most of my debt.

Alright. It's getting to be that time. Time for the next round of mods.

Gears. I'm thinking 4.30s. Mostly future planning for a T56, but I think they'd do alright with the NV for now. Ideally I'd like to do axles, trutrac, gears, all at the same time. So either find a donor axle and build it on a stand or do it over the winter.

How difficult are gears to install? I know they can whine if they aren't set up correctly. But I enjoy trying to do everything myself, however slowly that may be. So thoughts on gear choice and difficulty?
 
Gears aren’t terribly difficult if you have the proper tools. It would be much easier to do it on a donor axle, out of the truck. That way you can take your time to get the pattern/backlash set up right without he truck being out of commission.


Weren’t you thinking about boost at some point down the line? In a RCSB, is honestly probably stick with a 4.10 but we need details on what gear ratios the T56 is gonna have (I think there’s 2-3 choices) and what height tire you’re running. IF I keep the Yukon long enough to gear it, I’m going 4.30 to compensate for the weight and the auto. You don’t have near the weight and less traction, so I’d bet a 4.10 would suite you perfect
