2000 gmc rear end

my rear end just went out on my truck and i was wondering if there was a difference between the 4.8 and the 5.3

Gears maybe. But they should swap right in.

Rear end will swap in as long as it's a disc brake 6 lug. But you need to check to see if the gear ratio is the same or your speedo will be off

Gear ratio if can ne found on the build tag in the glovebox

or go to gm and give them the vin and get the build sheet comes in handy sometimes

There is no differance between the 2 trucks if they came with the same package.

now if ones a work truck and ones a LTZ then there can be a difference in the gears or something, but generally, you could get 2 trucks exactly the same just one having a 4.8 and one having a 5.3

thanks every body. does anyone knw if a 2004 tahoe rearend would fit my 2000 sierra

the brakes MAY be different. Just check that, and the gears like everyone else said.

No it won't fit because the Tahoe rearend has 5 link brackets and coil spring pockets, not leaf spring perches for your truck
