Sup fellas, i was offered a trade for an 06 Chevy crewcab that an old coworker bought at an auction. Its a really clean truck, no dents, interior is in great condition and it runs and rides smooth. It shows 57k miles on it and I want to make sure it hasn't had a gauge cluster swap or had the miles rolled back. Is there anyway to tell for sure if they have been messed with? A friend at the dealership said their computers don't always catch changes but I will try that for sure anyways.

Thanks.

57k for an 06 wouldnt be low enough to raise my guard about a cluster swap. Its about 10k/year which is only 5k off the national 'average'. Coulda just been some guy who worked locally imo. Why are ya skeptical about er

I wonder the same thing about my 04, when I bought it a year ago, it showed about 41k, I have been killing myself since thinking, but I hydrolocked the motor, and got a brand new Gm motor, so I guess trans is the only big deal.

and i have the signed carmax offer with verified mileage and whatnot, but still think about a cluster swap

It wouldn't be a big deal if it was a private owner but IDK what kind of trucks they put in the auctions. This guy buys a lot of cars from auctions and sells them to make a couple grand. He was honest enough to tell me that he wouldn't trust the odometer 100% so i just want to be sure. He is dropping the truck off tomorrow so I can run it to the dealership

Oo yeah I'm sure that happens often at auctions. People fuck with the clusters make some extra bones off it
