This maybe a stupid question but for those that have painted interior pieces from tan to black how well does it hold up?

Fixed your grammar in your title...

:datgrammarnazi: :sneaky:

I've seen Grey to Black... with minimal prep (soap and water, then dry and spray) and I was less than impressed. Putting pieces back together, shit scratched quite easily. I'd maybe suggest some adhesion promoter.

Ok. Well I'd do what I have to I guess go the full center console for my my truck for 200

Hopefully ill be fine. As y'all have said I've seen grey to black. And it was ok but I've never seem tan to black so. This is why I was wondering and with it being just a center console do you think ill be ok here pic of it

I bought a full center console for my 06 silvy and it came from a tan interior tahoe. Like obtain said, soap water dry and spray. It scratched easily for the first few days but after that its stayed good. I use my full console as a arm rest and there's no wear from my arm riding there at all. I would suggest painting it and then waiting a while for it to fully cure. I waited 24 hours before installing and scratched the shit out of it. Touched it up and let it cure now its good. This is what I used, had pretty good luck with it.

Thanks man. I'm kinda thinking haveing it wrapped in suede, leather or maybe vinyl. Not sure yet but will have top wrapped in suede or leather for sure.

IMO leather would look nice, gives it a finished factory look. It never fails though almost everytime my friends ride with me somebody kicks the passenger side of that console and like I said its held up so far and looks good. Which i painted the bottom part of my dash also so that my console wasnt the only black piece in my truck. Mine is a nbs though so I'm sure if you can do the same type thing in your nnbs.

I have tried painting them with crappy results. I even went to a paint store and ordered sem interior coating in the correct color by trim code. It matched perfect but did not hold up long. I spent 2 hours prepping it and even sprayed the stuff out a gun. It looked good for about a month and then it started peeling.

the sem is stuff is like a dye. I wish I had the answer there is a ton of tan lt2 consoles floating around and not that many black ones
