so got a more in depth explanation of what happened. the seal on the pinion was too long and it went into the housing too far and blocked the oil feed hole to the front pinion bearing. made the right half shaft where it bolts to the axle flange just inside the drive boot cracked when the differential locked up. so basically 2 bearings, a seal, and an axle all GM parts. so the install kit from ron must have either been wrong or something. just getting charged for parts and no labor, pretty happy. find out the price tomorrow after they road test it.
