Drove mine for awhile without my front before the SYE. I put a heavy duty plastic bag that some bolts came in over the rubber boot and zip tied it so dirt/dust wouldnt get in. Didn't have any problems.

shit, phil drove his tahoe for like a week with no rear drive shaft, just put it in 4wd and drove using front wheel drive lol

i do not reccommend that though

This. Unlike some older slip yoke transfercases, these have a seal in the front, but dirt getting in there could destroy the seal once the shaft is back in and it is trapped.

I did in my Yukon for 2 months. Was just fine. Also did what ginger mentioned and drove without rear for about 40 miles. NOT recomended, but can do
