2006 Silverado, did not have original fog lights. I installed the Factory GM Foglight Kit about 1 1/2 years ago, and have not had an issue until now.
Recently one of my HID ballasts for my foglights when bad (Cheap DDM Tuning one), and I decided to replace it with a nice Morimoto Kit from The Retrofit Source. When I installed the new ballasts, the passenger side will not turn on.
Now, this is where it gets tricky. Here is the troubleshooting I have done already:
-Swapped new ballasts with my headlight ones to make sure they were good. They are.
- Swapped bulbs to make sure both bulbs were good. They are.
- Checked for Voltage at the passenger side foglight connector - Yep. 11.5V.
- Checked the grounds. Yep, all good there.
- Swapped Relays, and made no difference.
- Fuse is good.
I even swapped a regular bulb into the passenger side foglight to completely bypass the HIDs, and here is the WEIRD thing that happened... I turned on the foglights with the factory switch, and nothing happened. However after about 15 seconds, the regular bulb turned on but the Drivers Side HID foglight didn't.
I didn't have the Relay Harness installed that I got from TRS, so thinking that maybe the ballasts needed more voltage to fire both at the same time... I installed the harness. This made absolutely NO change at all. Still the Drivers side is the only one that fires.
What else could it be? Any ideas? The only thing left is the switch inside the cab. But could this cause only one foglight to turn on? I wouldn't think so as I believe there is only one power wire that comes down from the relay box, and then splits to each side.
Either way, I'm stumped. Any thoughts are appreciated!
