I have an 05 sierra 6.0L. 138k
I'm about to do a oil change, what grade of oil should I put in? It's near the end of winter so not expecting extremely cold temps til next year. I hear to put 5w/30 but that seems a little thin...
Thanks

05 cc sierra 6L

I used to run 5W30 Mobil 1 with a Wix filter, ran it anywhere from 20 below 0 to 100+ no problems.

read the manual, any 5w-30 oil full synthetic is nicer and will last a little longer. but its up to you.

its regulated by the industry, so i dont think it can run anything other than the weight labeled.

if you in warm weather normally over 40 degrees, there is no issues with 10w-30

Took my truck and had the oil changed once instead of doing it myself, they put 10w-40 in it I was like dafuq you doing that for and the guy said some shit about having too many miles for 5w-30.. Only had 65k then too lol

am I the only one that runs 10w-30 :foreveralone:
I always ran 10w30 in the spring/summer/fall and changed to 5w30 for winter
