would it be weird to retro hi and low?

also would look better with one of those square retro's

That's what I'm pricing. And it gets tight in that high beam bucket, and twice the price.

Could always do a dummy projector though in the high beam. Just a lens and shroud in front of the high beam bulb.

Dual setup would be awesome, just do like Pat said and do a dummy lens and shroud for high beam.

Problem is you can't get a square dummy projectors... :eek:kay:

These are the projectors that would be in the low beam... and would do low and high beam :cheeky:
"B Stock" Morimoto Mini D2S 3.0 Projectors - Closeouts

Catch is, they're B-stock. Meaning slight imperfections in the lens, maybe a little scuff on the outside of the projector, etc. They're sold without warranty.

While the cutoff won't be SOOPER DOOPER perfect like some retrofphiles go for, they're still gonna be awesome. Functionality wise you won't have any worries. Right now they're $30.00 on TRS' website. Just click the little drop down box and choose "Value D2S X-Lens"... X for square lens, O for round lens.

also is it possible to set them back further in the head light instead of so close to the lens ?

See my last post again, I edited it.

Yes you can move it further back into the headlight but you open up another can of worms altogether with trying to get your cutoff level. Basically what you're going to want to do is get the projectors in the headlight. Before putting the lens back on the light, or the shroud, park the truck away from your garage door or house, maybe take a jack out. Put a level on the core support, level the truck off with the jack, and make sure the cutoff lines are level with each other. Once those lines are level with each other, take the headlights off the truck, and JB weld the projectors into place permanently just so they don't wiggle around. Then you can epoxy the shrouds on. You'll see how they go on. Pretty simple.

I have value projectors in my retro.
Mofos are perfect and put out tits light.
Only thing is my cutoff is not SUPER colorful.
Looks legit as fok driving toward you though. Hnng.
My buddies the other day asked what was wrong with my herdlerts when gf was driving up the road. "Bro why are your lights changing colors, the bulbs are going out."
While I am next to them blowing my wad from hnng sound and hnng retro output

I mean for someone that JUST wants functional, J.mo's right man. The value projectors are the way to go.

Where can I find said value projectors? Always liked the thought of a retro, just not the price.

Off topic, but is there anyone doing retrofits in the '14+ trucks? Are the stock projectors worth a shit or are they just like the middle-of-the-line caddies where they throw a dummy projector lens over a halogen?

Left hand drive and right hand drive, basically it's the way the cut off is.

This is LHD which you want.

RHD would be the exact opposite, the cutoff would be lower on the right and slope up going left.

Phil @ fastheadlights.com has done a few. IIRC there was a thread over on hid planet where a guy swapped his '14 for FXR projectors. I'll look for it.

I'm curious how those value projectors would work with an LED kit. I understand the output most likely won't be ideal since it's coming from a single source LED vs multiple sources but it should be less scattered.

Yeah. The issue with putting an LED in an HID housing is that the focal point of the projector bowl is made for the hot spot on the HID bulb. If that's out of spec you'll have fuzzy cuttoff, dim output, etc. I actually just rectified an issue that I had with a defective bulb with a funky hot spot. TRS Warranty FTW btw.

LED's should be in an LED specific projector. TRS should have a model out next year but they're still working on it.

LED tech just isn't where it needs to be to be a viable replacement for HID. Toyota's done some interesting stuff with the new Corolla, and even Acura now. The Europeans are really stepping up the game when it comes to LED output.

It'll take a little while for the aftermarket to catch up, just like it did with HID.

And Tony, for someone that's new to retrofitting, I would definitely tell them to stick with D2S or MiniH1's just for ease.

I have. No more foreground limiter. You know that space between the front of the truck and the actual beginning of the output? Yeah that's gone now lol.

6.0's are also wider, seem to have a little more colour and are sharper.
